6. Jan Baalsrud
March 1943 there were 4 Norwegian commandos who went by ship from England to Nazi-occupied Norway. Upon arriving they were ambushed and they had to escape. Jaan ran with their toe shot off and one foot exposed to winter. He went across snowy regions to the Village of Mandal, where the locals cared for him and helped him get back to Sweden. He got crippled from frostbite though.
