19. Gorilla
Closest to humans after chimpanzees in DNA sequencing. Cover tropical and subtropical forests of sub-Saharan Africa. There is a western gorilla and an eastern gorilla. They move by knuckle-walking. Male gorillas weigh 300-500lbs and female gorillas weigh 150-250lbs. Their lifespan is 35-40 years, but zoo gorillas live 50 to 60 years. They live in troops, one Alpha male silverback, and multiple females and offspring, yet there have been groups where it is multiple-males. These gorillas come in many films in pop culture like the movie King Kong, and Tarzan.
