14. Hiroo Onoda
This Japanese man was an army officer who fought in World war II. He spent 30 years in the Philippine jungles. He continued believing the war was going on despite notes and letters telling him war was over. He emerged out of the jungle wearing a coconut fiber uniform handmade. He had understood the war was finally over.
