7. Beck Weathers
He spent 18 hours in subzero temperatures at Mount Everest. He regained his senses and somehow managed to get back into camp. He had to go through 10 different surgeries and his left and right hand was amputated. 8 people were with him who did not make it. The account is told in the book Into Thin Air.
