8. Ernest Shackleton’s Expedition Team
Shackleton tried to cross Antarctica on foot just before World war 1. The ship got stuck in the Weddell Sea. The people on board the ship couldn’t communicate with anyone for 22 months. The people ended up moving to Elephant island. No one knows what happened to the 27 crew. Shackleton took a lifeboat and crossed 800 miles of cold sea to Georgia island. He landed on the wrong side though, so he had to cross the frozen mountain to reach the whaling station.
