Big Ben
Big Ben is the nickname of the Great Bell, the striking clock at the north end of the Palace of Westminster. The clock is often referred to as the tower as well, which is officially known as the Elizabeth Tower, and previously, the Clock Tower.
Big Ben was completed on 31st of May, 1859 and stands at a height of 316 feet or 96 meters. After much of the tower was destroyed by the fire of 16 October 1834, Charles Barry, the British architect of the Palace of Westminster, turned to a fellow English architect, Augustus Pugin, to help design the Clock Tower.
As of today, Big Ben is under reconstruction until the second quarter of 2022. Much of the project was delayed to the event of the coronavirus in 2020.
