Leaning Tower of Pisa
An architectural failure and a masterpiece, the Leaning Tower of Pisa is one of Italy’s main world tourist attractions. The construction of the tower began in 1173 when the foundations of it were laid. However as the construction progress over the years, the tower began to sink due to the weak and unstable subsoil it was upon.
Since 1280, at least four major earthquakes have hit Pisa, and the Leaning Tower of Pisa surprisingly survived.
