Eiffel Tower
The Eiffel Tower was built in preparation for the World’s Fair of 1889. The idea was to build a tall erecting iron tower on the Champ-de-Mars located in the French city of Paris and would be erected to a height 300 meters tall. Among the 107 project proposals for the tower, it was the proposal of Gustave Eiffel, a businessman, Maurice Koechlin, and Emile Nouguier, engineers, and Stephen Sauvestre, an architect that was pushed forward and accepted.
The construction of the Eiffel Tower began on July 1, 1887 and completed twenty-two months later. Upon its completion, nearly two million visitors came to witness the iron tower during the World’s Fair of 1889.
Today the tower offers two restaurants, spectacular city views and elevators that can take people to the top.
