Machu Picchu
Machu Picchu is an Inca citadel from the 1400s in the country of Peru and stands 2,430 m above sea level on the Andes. With beautiful landscape and significance to the Inca civilization, it is renowned as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
For over four decades, Machu Pichu was lost to the knowledge of the people except to a few people from the inland. An American archeologist Hiram Bingham discovered the ruins upon his search for the lost city Vilcabamba on July 24, 1911.
Today Machu Picchu is regarded as one of the Seven Wonders of the World. It has a 2500 daily limit of visitors to help the preservation of the historical landmark. If you ever plan on traveling to Machu Pichu, be sure to book your travel hikes well in advance.
